Originally, for my vector exercise, I wanted to do texts
that described the arts (Art, writing, and music) however, I realized that the
project would have taken me longer and I would have needed to use images for
what I had planned. I already had music fonts downloaded, so, I decided to
focus on music and try to convey music through just text.
The first piece of text I created was the black one towards
the middle. I overlapped two different music fonts and used the create outlines
tool along with merge tool in pathfinder. Then I pulled pieces of the text and
moved them around creating shapes and distortion. I was going to do the whole
piece in black and white but I thought how music is colorful and emotional so I
decided to do different colors, basing each text on complementary colors.
For the next step, in the process, I created the instrument
pieces on the sides of the main texts. I used a third font for the instruments
and used the first two fonts to embellish the instruments; I also added
question marks and exclamation points to communicate emotion. I did them in complementary
colors as well and I used the warp to tool to slightly twist them. Then I once
again merged the pieces and pulled different pieces out. The final piece I added was the bottom collage
of fonts. I had the extra space and I wanted to fill the piece. I used the sprayer
to add multiple copies of the same font letters and I also scrunched them.
Fonts used: alpha music man, distracted musician, and wc musica bta.
